The primary stamping on most ATVs is at the front of the frame near the steering column or head tube.
Many manufacturers place the VIN on a sticker or stamp on the left frame rail, just below the footrest area.
Compare the physical VIN on the frame to what appears on the title before any purchase.
Some utility ATVs include a secondary VIN sticker on an inner plastic panel or under the seat.

An ATV mechanic can test the differentials, check the frame for cracks, inspect CV boots, and verify the cooling system — all things invisible in photos.
Check NHTSA and the manufacturer's website for open recalls. ATVs have had recalls covering throttle, steering, and fuel systems.
Some states do not require ATVs to be titled at all. If there is a title, verify it is clean and matches the frame VIN exactly.
Ask for records of how the ATV was used. Farm work, racing, deep mud, and trail riding have very different wear patterns on the drivetrain.
